Is The Friedrich-Löffler-Institut (FLI) whistling in the dark?
From their website (translated):
Is Corona's marketing of pigs at risk?
As long as there is no scientific evidence that pigs can become infected with the coronavirus or contribute to the spread of the virus, the FLI does not believe that studies of animals for slaughter are useful. The Federal Ministry of Agriculture (BMEL) also considers transmission via food to be unlikely. For the time being, therefore, pig farmers do not have to worry about the marketing of their animals.
